Open letter to readers & friends:

As you all know by now, there will be an election in Quebec on Apr. 7. I am running for the Coalition Avenir Québec in the riding of NDG, which covers most of the NDG community + all of Montreal West.

Democracy isn’t just about freedom, it’s about taking ownership and responsibility for your present and future. Every vote does, in fact, matter.

This letter is not an appeal for your vote – there’s plenty of time for that – but rather to appeal to you all to pay attention and make a choice, in particular in the Anglo and Allo communities.

Our province has been paralyzed by one debate for a generation: Yes or no. This isn’t a new sentiment – I’ve had hundreds of discussions about this going back 10-15 years, as I’m sure you all have as well. This election is the first time for literally a generation that we have a chance to change the debate and focus on what really matters: The economy, our health and education systems, and taking pride and ownership in our province.

Fortunately, we’ve been successful in keeping our country together, but along the way, we lost our identity and allowed our home and our flag to be co-opted by those who would wish to divide us. It’s time we stand up and say “THIS IS OUR HOME. WE ARE QUEBECERS AND WE ARE PROUD.”

Obviously my preference is that you choose the CAQ, but this message isn’t about partisanship. I got into politics to put my money where my mouth is. Not everyone has to put their name and face on a sign to do that, but all of you and everyone around you owe it to yourselves to pay attention for the next 33 days and make an informed decision on election day, Apr. 7 – whatever that decision may be.

Don’t feel that your vote doesn’t make a difference because you live in a Liberal or PQ “traditional stronghold.” Democracy isn’t just about freedom, it’s about taking ownership and responsibility for your present and future. Every vote does, in fact, matter.

I implore you to pay close attention to this campaign and make a decision you can be proud on April 7.

Thank you.
